Scrapbooking Star Wars: New Owners

Amy writes:

In continuation of our scrapbooking series, this time we take a look at collectors who own scrapbooks that they did not make.

Ron Salvatore has such a book in his collection, compiled by a woman in Modesto, CA -- George Lucas' hometown. The book covers mainly the vintage years and traces Star Wars advertising from 1977 through the Power of the Force line in 1985. Each article is noted with the date and the paper through which it ran.

Recently, I was gifted a scrapbook collection by Cincinnati collector Dave Brott. These albums (made by a woman in Illinois) cover articles, theater listings, and cartoons from 1977 to 1999. Of particular interest are the political cartoons and printed out online articles from 1999. It is interesting to see the scrapbook transition to the digital age.

  2. The scrapbooks originally came from Cleveland area collector Mary Ann Whitley, who is definitely one of the nicest collectors I've ever met.
