DIY Holiday Micro Machine Ornaments

Amy writes:

Recently I decided to make my own Star Wars Micro Machine holiday ornaments. They were incredibly easy to make and affordable. This craft is great for novice or advanced crafters. Here is how to make your own:

The first thing you will need is a package of Micro Machines. I decided to go with the new small 3 pack assortments of Hoth and Endor for my first ornaments. But they also sell larger packs too.

After you have the Micro Machines, you will need to visit the craft store for the following:
  • White air drying clay (one package will be enough to make 7 ornaments)
  • Plastic ornaments with a hole cut out on the side and a flat base
  • Mini embellishments such as scaled flocked trees or holly bunches
  • You could also get ribbon or glitter glue to add to the ornament but it is not necessary.

Step 1:
Take enough clay to fill the base of the ornament just up to the base of the cut out.  Smooth the clay.  You're making the snow base of your scene.

Optional:
Add a small amount of glitter glue (I used iridescent) for added shimmer on the snow.

Step 2:
Place the holiday embellishments, holly or small trees etc. Once you know where you want them to go, press them down into the clay. They should stand on their own.

Step 3:
Repeat Step 2 with the Micro Machines that you have selected to place in the scene.

Optional:
Add a ribbon bow at the top of the ornament by threading it through the loop at the top.

You should now have a completed Star Wars Micro Machines ornament of your own.

  1. hahaha these are so cool! What an awesome way to celebrate the holidays the starwars way. I'd make some myself if I had the time and the supplies. My wife and I recently bought some custom starwars stockings here though: http://www.marvelpress.com/100-cotton-twill-christmas-stocking-18.html I cant wait to hang them above the fireplace!

May the force be with you,
